Parks and Nature in Lyon

I love the great outdoors, especially during the summer when the flowers are blossoming and the smell of pollen fills the air. Lyon is a large city; I find it is often hard to find wonderful parks in larges cities; however fear not Lyon is home to many wonderful parks I enjoy.

Parc de la Tete D'or is quite a large park located in the 6th district. It is obligatory to visit, if you are a lover of the great outdoors. You will see people roller blading, running or cycling around the grounds. There is also a lovely lake where you can rent a little boat and discover the winding hidden parts of the lake. The lake is surrounded by trees and birds; there are also swans and ducks swimming alongside you, which is nice.

There are plenty of spots to have a picnic or enjoy mini golf/rent a bike with friends and family. There is also a zoo which is free and home to many endangered animals.

When it is sunny, it is filled with tourists and locals sun bathing, playing music or just enjoying the scenery.

If this park does not appeal to you, there are also two larger parks I think are magnificent such as Parc de la Feyssine or Miribel. Parc de la Feyssine is home to the big wave, which is situated on the lake and many well established extreme sports men/women come with their canoes to ride the wave.

There are also large green areas, and a rock beach close the lake to relax and take in the fresh air.

If this park does not appeal to you, why not go all out, and visit Miribel, I would classify it as one of the largest parks located in Lyon. From the lake to horse back riding there is something for everyone. From tree top adventure parks to cycling or running, I am sure you will not be disappointed. There is something for everyone.
