The 2017 highlights of the festival’s 12th edition

This year, the festival will be based in the City Hall and a marquee in the Place des Terreaux. It will also be hosted at various cultural sites, mainly in the Presqu’île district, including the Opera, the Museum of Fine Arts, the Comédie Odéon, the Museum of Printing and Graphic Communication, and in the neighbouring Parc République, the Lumière Terreaux cinema, the Fnac store, the Municipal Archives, the Musée Gallo-Romain and the Pathé Vaise cinema. A total of around 50 locations across the city will be joining in the fun.

More than 230 authors have been invited. Meet them at book signings, master classes, presentations, debates, talks, or during performances in the museums etc.

Strong international representation
Germany is this year’s guest of honour. Don’t miss the Deutsche Comics 2017 exhibition, which showcases the prolific creations of today’s German comics scene. Note that there will also be delegations from Catalonia, Québec, China, the USA and Algeria.

Shows and performances across the arts

  • Putain d’Usine, a creation based on Efix’s comic strip, combining projection, 2D animation, live music and theatre.
  • Comic Strip Blues, “play me a drawing”, a Comic/Jazz show.
  • 10 authors invade the Museum of Fine Arts and reinterpret the works.
  • Free rein has been given to author Fabien Toulmé at the Venenum (A Poisoned World) exhibition at the Musée des Confluences, and to B-gnet at the Musée Gallo-Romain, for the creation of his Antique Parc comic strip, which is on show at the museum.

Activities for children and teenagers:
Comic strip workshops, 2 mini master classes, interactive shows in which a comic strip and the storyline are composed in real time with the participation of the young people.

“Lyon BD Junior” is for 5-14 year-olds; register at the City Hall for a customised programme with comic strip workshops, DIY workshops, an interactive mural, a giant colouring book, a reading corner, with comic strips available by the guest authors, and “Worlds in a box” (boxes of surprise activities) etc.
