Vidéotransmission de la Flûte enchantée Place des Terreaux - Opéra de Lyon

Video transmission of Rossini’s Le Comte Ory

On Saturday, July 5, 2014, the Opéra de Lyon can be enjoyed outdoors at Place des Terreaux!

For the sixth Opéra sur Grand Ecran event (on a large screen), the  Opéra National de Lyon  is pulling out all the stops with an opera by Rossini which will be broadcasted simultaneously on large outdoor screens in several towns throughout the Rhone-Alps region.

On Saturday, July 5 at 9:30 pm, head on over to Place des Terreaux for a performance of  Le Comte Ory , a work by Rossini, near the Opéra Comique (large screen).

Younger viewers can rest assured that this is a very accessible and often funny piece: Count Ory is a heavy gambler, a show-off and a seductive aristocrat… a daddy’s boy just like the heroes of the American TV series!

This brilliant, high-energy comedy is a popular and accessible piece offering more than a touch of fantasy. Laurent Pelly, the director, assures us that: "Rossini rocks!" Whether you’re a total beginner or someone with a keen interest in the opera, we're sure you'll love what you see!

And as it's out in the open air, there’s none of the usual opera dress codes. Come along in your jeans and trainers with your hands in your pockets. This is a great opportunity to experience, perhaps for the first time; the sheer excitement and emotion of discovering or rediscovering a lyrical work from a completely different perspective, though one which is nevertheless just as impressive outdoors as it would be at the Opera house.

A superb, rather unusual show, out in the open air under the stars.... and free of charge!
