Lumière 2012 Film Festival

The whole of greater Lyon is set to enjoy a film feast from October 15-21, 2012, with the Grand Lyon Film Festival!

Strangely, what makes this festival so special is that unlike the others it never presents new films. And it's precisely this which gives it its distinctive charm!

This is a festival for rediscovered or restored films. A festival for artists and spectators. It provides the perfect opportunity to go to the cinema and see a film you once loved or one you missed!

It's also a great chance to meet the stars and filmmakers in real life, who happily make the trip to Lyon as this festival has a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere. They head here just to share their love of the cinema!

Over the space of a week you'll be spoiled for choice with major shows, retrospectives, tributes, exhibitions, meetings, colloquiums and conferences, a cine-concert, the projection of films on giant screens,(including for children on Wednesday afternoons) and even a “Cine-Ball” with the Biennial Dance Festival.

And naturally, the high point of the festival is the awarding of the Lumière Prize to Ken Loach for all of his work.

Not forgetting the stalls open during the day or night, the festival shop and the flea market.

In short, further proof that everyone loves the cinema in Lyon!
