Henri Matisse, le Laboratoire intérieur

From the 2nd of December 2016 to the 6th of March 2017, at Musée des Beaux-arts de Lyon

Beginning in December, the Museum of Fine Arts will be presenting a major retrospective devoted to Henri Matisse (1869-1954). While he was known first and foremost as a painter, and notably for his brilliantly coloured and dazzling works, Matisse was also an engraver, sculptor and illustrator. With around 250 works, the exhibition will take a look at the artist's drawings with a number of series, such as les académies, le travail du portrait and la floraison.

Matisse was particularly attached to the town of Lyon, and he is even said to have given a number of drawings to the  Musée des Beaux-arts de Lyon , which makes this an even more fitting tribute.

Admission to the museum and the exhibition is included in the Lyon City Card
